Yes, international travelers need a valid passport, and many nationalities, including U.S. citizens, require a visa to enter Ghana. Passport validity and visa requirements depend on your nationality. Participants are responsible for obtaining the necessary travel documents before departure.

Ghana requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for most travelers aged nine months and older. Other vaccinations and malaria prevention may also be recommended. We encourage participants to consult a travel medicine professional well before departure.

No. This journey is rooted in African ancestral remembrance and cultural reconnection, but we welcome individuals who approach the experience with sincere intentions, cultural humility, and respect for Ghanaian traditions.

Not at all. Participants do not need previous experience with Akom or traditional African spiritual practices. Opportunities for spiritual learning and participation will be approached with guidance, respect, and reverence for the traditions being shared.

We recognize that everyone has their own spiritual beliefs, boundaries, and relationship with ancestral practices. Participants are encouraged to approach the journey with openness and respect. Specific ceremonies and participation expectations will be explained before the trip.

Visiting historical sites connected to the transatlantic slave trade and participating in ancestral remembrance can bring forward powerful emotions. We will create opportunities for reflection, journaling, community connection, and rest throughout the journey.

Accommodations will be arranged throughout the journey to provide comfort and rest between activities. Details regarding lodging, room arrangements, and any single-occupancy options will be shared with registered participants.

Absolutely. While our itinerary includes cultural excursions, ceremonies, workshops, and group activities, we also recognize the importance of rest and integration. Time for relaxation, reflection, and personal exploration is an intentional part of the experience.

Our itinerary includes walking tours, historical sites, outdoor excursions, and travel between destinations. Some locations may involve uneven terrain, stairs, or warm weather. Please contact us before registering if you have mobility concerns or require accommodations.

A $300 deposit secures your reservation for Ghana 2027. Space is limited, and we encourage early registration.
