Akongua Hemaa

Honoring Ohlone Land: Akwesidae Ceremony

A Sacred Ancestral Gathering Bridging Ghana & the Bay Area
Hosted by Ahoto Healing & Wellness Home (Ghana)
In Collaboration with Obsidian Healing Camp (Oakland, Ohlone Land)
Facilitated by Akongua Hemaa
Healing Coach | Spiritual Mentor | Holistic Health Practitioner

About the Ceremony

Akwesidae is a sacred ancestral observance in the Akan (Fante) tradition of Ghana. Held every 6 weeks, Akwesidae is a time to pause, pour, pray, and honor our ancestors, realign with our spirit team, and offer gratitude to the Divine.

This ceremony is an opportunity to:

  • ✨ Honor ancestors, known and unknown
  • ✨ Reconnect with the Kra (soul) and spirit guides — the Abosom, Orishas, Abosom Kronkron
  • ✨ Give thanks for guidance, protection, and sacred timing
  • ✨ Realign with divine order and ancestral wisdom
  • ✨ Restore balance between land, lineage, and legacy

Why Oakland? Why Ohlone Land?

This ceremony is a spiritual bridge between Ghana and the Bay Area, led by Akongua Hemaa, a native of the Akan (Fante) people who has lived for over 15 years on Ohlone Land in Oakland, California.

As a spiritual practitioner devoted to honoring her Abosom and Orishas, Akongua could not pour to her own ancestors without also revering the sacred land she walks upon.

In deep reverence, she was spiritually guided to knock on the doors of Obsidian Healing Camp, seeking to unite the Native Spirits of Ghana with the Native Spirits of Ohlone Land in a ceremonial act of remembrance, reciprocity, and reverence.

Through this ceremonial offering, we uplift both African and Indigenous lineages, creating a sacred rhythm of community healing, spiritual alignment, and intergenerational connection.

A Message from Akongua Hemaa

"When we gather in reverence, the ancestors gather too. Akwesidae is not just a tradition—it is a portal, a path of remembrance, and a return to wholeness. Come as you are. Come as you were meant to be."
